As for more lake access, I think it is a good idea (for residents) and think a 2-tiered pricing system for launching fees(lower the price for locals, and raise it for Illinois residents, is a fine idea), and might help with access for locals (after all, its our lakes).

Unfortunately, most of the waterfront around here is already developed or prohibitively expensive to acquire for public purposes, however if we have the bucks and an opportunity such as a donation exists to acquire lakefront land for the public, we should do it, and ape the Forest Preserve system of our neighbors to the south to save large tracts of open space.

And, historically, we had a whole excellent train system that served all the major towns her, the bones of which still exist. Buses are a good stop gap, but in the long run, I think rail is going to be better in light of peak oil and world resource depletion. Elaborate on why you do not want a train system, I'd like to see a discussion.

I am going to reply in detail to this comment in a new posting today.Joshua Skolnickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03429086776789822611noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6110266252166143483.post-8129557240943353142007-07-03T10:50:00.000-07:002007-07-03T10:50:00.000-07:00As a resident of Walworth County, I agree with som...As a resident of Walworth County, I agree with some of your ideas, we need to be smart about future growth. I would like to see some alternative transportation options, like buses, however I do not want to see a whole train system in Walworth county. I would love to see more waterfront land dedicated toward public access use for people who live in Walworth County. I am a boater who likes boating on Lake Geneva, but access is limited.

Growth in inevidable, Sho-deen, was just a stupid idea. Instead of retail and residential development we need more manufacturing business in Walworth County. Lets give tax subsidies to business that will provide higher paying jobs.

If your sustainable Walworth blog is just a site for tree huggers and environmental wackos who are brain washed by Al Gore, you will never get anywhere.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
